Samantha Grant

Samantha Grant is an independent documentary filmmaker, journalist and educator. Through GUSH productions Sam has created work for MTV, ABC, PBS, CNN, NPR, PRI, FRONTLINE, FRONTLINE/World and Al Jazeera International. Sam’s approach to story was shaped by her AmStud/Lit degree from Yale University and her Journalism Master’s degree from UC Berkeley GSJ. In 2007, Sam was a Carnegie/Knight fellow for News 21 The Future of Journalism and in 2011, Sam was a BAVC MediaMaker Fellow, where she developed the Educational Alternate Reality Game DECISIONS ON DEADLINE. DOD was conceived as a companion project to Samantha’s first feature documentary A FRAGILE TRUST: Plagiarism, Power, and Jayson Blair at the New York Times. A FRAGILE TRUST is touring the film festival circuit and air’s nationwide on PBS in April 2014. When she’s not shooting, producing, or editing documentaries, Sam lectures at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and Stanford's Knight Fellowship program.
