As a faculty member at Columbia Journalism School, Susan specializes in areas of data journalism and information visualization, drawing on her several years' experience as Senior Programmer on the Online News Graphics team at the Wall Street Journal. Her current research through the Tow Center focuses on digital security and privacy issues for journalists, with broader applications towards education, policy development and industry standards. Additional projects, including the Knight Foundation-supported Data Docs web platform and research into the innovative use of mobile devices, look toward building and exploring new journalistic forms and technologies.
