Nicholas Diakopoulos is a Tow Fellow at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he began working on computational journalism and co-taught the first course in the subject in 2007. In 2009 he was AAAS Mass Media Fellow and science reporter at the Sacramento Bee. Since then he has been employed as a research fellow at Rutgers University, the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, the University of Bergen, and as an independent consultant. His specific expertise spans computational media applications as they relate to data visualization, social computing, human-computer interaction, and the news.
