Matt Berger is the Digital Director at Marketplace overseeing the development of websites, news applications and audio syndication tools for the business-news programs produced by American Public Media. Matt started out as a local newspaper reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area during the first dot-com boom. The lure of the web was too much and in 2000 he scored his first online gig as a general assignment reporter for the business news website UpsideToday.com and Upside magazine. When Upside went downside, Matt moved a few blocks down Market Street as a U.S. Correspondent for IDG News Service, covering Microsoft, Apple and the burgeoning open source software movement. The dot-com crash sent him East where he spent seven years building the digital division at The Taunton Press, a publisher of lifestyle books and magazines, where he produced websites, e-newsletters, and digital subscription products. Matt lives in South Pasadena, Calif.
