Laura founded Silicon Hills News with a JLab New Media Women Entrepreneur grant in 2011. The two year old regional technology site covers technology entrepreneurs and companies in Austin and San Antonio. Before that, she was a senior writer at the San Antonio Express-News, a senior writer at Interactive Week Magazine, a technology columnist and specialty writer at the South Florida Sun Sentinel, a business reporter at the San Antonio Light, a business reporter at the Beaumont Enterprise and a general assignment reporter at the Angleton Times.
