John Keefe is the Senior Editor on the Data News Team at WNYC, New York Public Radio. The team helps infuse the station's journalism with data reporting, maps and interactives, and recently led Radiolab's Cicada Tracker project, which included a crowdsourced sensor component. Keefe also led a panel on sensor journalism at SXSW in March. In his previous role, Keefe was WNYC's news director for nine years, growing the station's capacity for breaking news, election coverage and investigative reporting. His career also includes time as a police reporter at two Wisconsin newspapers, science editor for Discovery Channel Online and president of a small digital production company. Keefe is on the board of the Online News Association and is an advisor to CensusReporter.org, a tool in development to help reporters navigate census data.
