Duque, an investigative journalist and correspondent for Radio Nizkor in Colombia, tackles some of the most difficult and dangerous stories in her country. Duque has covered issues such as child trafficking, illegal adoption, infiltration of paramilitary groups into Colombian state institutions and human rights violations. Over a period of several years Duque was subjected to abusive phone calls threatening the life of her daughter - one caller told her "your daughter is going to suffer, we will burn her alive, we will spread her fingers throughout the house. " In 2001 Duque was kidnapped and in 2004 she suffered an attempt to disappear her. She later uncovereded an instruction manual published by Colombian security services setting out in detail how to intimidate her.
