Premchaiporn is the director of Prachatai, a Thai independent news and commentary site which she founded in 2004. She has been arrested several times and in 2012 was found guilty under Thailand's 2007 Computer Crimes Act for comments posted by users on her site. She is currently appealing the verdict. She has also faced multiple raids on her offices, and her website was repeatedly blocked in 2010 when anti-government demonstrations rocked the country. Prachathai publishes information about freedom of expression and citizens' rights, as well as politics, health and the environment.
