Census Reporter

Providing journalists and the public with a simpler way to access Census data, so they can spend less time managing information and more time analyzing it for trends. Expanding upon the volunteer-built Census.ire.org, the site will include much more data, a friendlier interface for navigating all of that data, and visualizations for a more useful first look at the data.

Our pilot project is Drawn from Memory, a super immersive and interactive cross-media graphic novel that traces the journey of Tibetans in exile, shedding new light to the crisis of self-immolation and the Tibetan freedom struggle.



CoveritLive is a live events platform used by publishers, broadcasters and brands worldwide. It gives organizations like these the ability to cover live events while adding their own editorial perspective and providing managed audience participation. The result is an engaging and interactive audience experience, with discussion, integration of photos and video, incorporation of Twitter and other external content.


Data Docs

Data Docs is both a series of interactive, data-driven web documentaries and the open-source platform that drive them. Anyone can watch and share our episodes or use our code make their own immersive, explanatory web videos.

Drone Journalism Lab

The Drone Journalism Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications studies the use of drones for journalism, including the legal, ethical and practical dimensions of cameras that fly.
